Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani made the remarks in a meeting with Singaporean Parliament Speaker Halimah Yacob in Tehran on Sunday.

Iran is serious to prove to the world that the commotion created about Iran’s nuclear program is politically motivated, the veteran politician stated.

He said that nuclear talks between Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) have reached a sensitive stage and it is necessary that all parties show seriousness to resolve the issue.

Rafsanjani also said Iran and Singapore should build upon their affinities to expand their economic and cultural ties.

Yacob said that Singapore is keen to expand parliamentary relations with Iran.

She extended an invitation to Rafsanjani to make a trip to Singapore.
