Already eliminated Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Iran 3-1 in a World Cup Group F match at the Arena Fonte Nova on Wednesday.
Bosnia and Herzegovina possessed the ball and put Iran under pressure.
In the 23rd minute, Edin Dzeko gave the Bosnian team the lead, firing a left-footed shot past Iran goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi.
Two minutes later, the Iranian team had a perfect chance to equalize the match but Masoud Shojaei hit the crossbar.
Miralem Pjanic was on target for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 59th minute.
Reza Ghoochannejhad pulled a goal back in the 82nd minute but one minute later Avdija Vrsajevic rubbed salt in the wounds of the Iranian football team by scoring Bosnia’s third goal.
Elsewhere, Argentina beat Nigeria 3-2 in Group F at the Estadio Beira-Rio thanks to a brace from Lionel Messi and a goal from Marcos Rojo. Ahmed Musa scored twice for Nigeria.
Argentina advanced to the last 16 as the winner of Group F with nine points. Nigeria also booked a birth in the next stage with four points.
Bosnia and Herzegovina finished in third and fourth places with three points and one point respectively.
