TEHRAN - Secretary General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali Akbar Velayati has condemned the Zionist regime’s attack on the Gaza Strip and said that Iran will continue to support the oppressed Palestinians.
Velayati said that during the past three years the Zionist regime has been fighting against the Muslims “directly” and “indirectly”.
Talking in a press conference on Wednesday, the former foreign minister said the Zionist regime has been waging “indirect” wars against Muslims in Syria and Iraq by backing terrorist groups.
The ongoing offensives in Gaza, Iraq and Syria are interrelated, Velayati added.
To back his idea, Velayati said Israel is behind the formation of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and similar terrorist groups who have been massacring people in Iraq.
He noted that takfiri terrorists in Syria are also supported by the Zionist regime.
Israel will surely fail in war against Gaza
The veteran politician went on to say that the Zionist regime and its allies will definitely fail in the war on Gaza.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that Iran always seeks unity in the Islamic world and this has been proven by its support to Muslims whether Shia or Sunni.
Commenting on the importance of Quds Day this year, he said the world will witness a massive turnout in Iran and other countries.
International Qods Day is a day of solidarity with Palestine observed on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.
