TEHRAN – Italy volleyball coach Mauro Berruto has sent a message of condolence to the Iranian Volleyball Federation over death of Hossein Madani.
Madani died at the age of 43 on Friday due to lung disease.
He was diagnosed with a severe respiratory disease two weeks ago and could not travel to Florence, Italy along with Iran volleyball team.
Under tutelage of Madani, the Iranian volleyball team claimed the titles of the Asian Men's Cup Volleyball Championship in 2008 and 2010.
“I read the very sad news. Very sad,” Mauro Berruto told Tehran Times via email.
“Please extend my condolences to his family and to all Iranian volleyball family. This moments are showing how fragile is our appearance on this planet, but also that is important to have somebody around you to share passion, nice moments, happiness and also this tremendously sad moments,” he added.
“I'm sure all volleyball family wishes to hug our Iranians friends, remembering Hossein and wishing he could rest in peace,” Italy coach said.
Madani will be laid on Sunday in Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra cemetery.
