Iran took 4th place in the competition
Young Iranian students who were sent out to the 46th international chemistry Olympiad in Hanoi, Vietnam, on July 31st returned home with one gold and three silver medals in hand, according to Danakhabar.
The annual Olympiad, which was from July 20 - 29, attracted more than 550 teachers and students from 77 countries and territories all over the globe.
Among the countries participating in the competition, Russia, China and Taiwan stood first, second and third in that order and Iran shared the fourth place with South Korea, U.S. and Turkey.
The International Chemistry Olympiad is a competition for high school students under 20 with the aim of promoting international contacts in chemistry.
It has been organized every year since 1968 (except 1971) in one of the participating countries by their respective education ministries or an appropriate institution of the organizing country.
