TEHRAN – Director of Tehran Province Water and Wastewater Company has asked Tehranis whose water consumption has exceed 50 – 250 cubic meters, nine times above the standard water consumption rate, to reconsider their water use patterns.
Mohammad Parvaresh, in an interview with IRNA, on Saturday said that around 3,000 Tehranis have failed to comply with the standard water consumption pattern and have gone wild on water waste spree.
Consumers using over 50 cubic meters of water monthly will face water cut off every day for 7 hours starting next month, Parvaresh warned.
The standard monthly water use for each family is 20 cubic meters.
Low rainfall, overuse and misuse of underground water reservoirs along with excess water consumption in the past few years have all led to water scarcity and crisis in many of Iran’s provinces and in Tehran.
