Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that Iran’s military doctrine has only been devised to defend the country and to maintain regional security.

“Our defense capabilities will never be used to invade any country, even a weak state. We are not advocates of aggression,” Rouhani said during a ceremony held in Tehran on Sunday to commemorate Iran’s Defense Industries Day, IRNA reported.

“Our neighbors should be aware that if we become powerful in defense industries, it is not only for our own security, but it is for the security of the entire region,” he stated.

Commenting on enemy threats against Iran, he said, “We do not stand idle in the face of enemy threats and plots against our national sovereignty. We do not seek an arms race, but we ourselves will make the necessary decisions about defending ourselves, and we do not seek the permission of others in this regard.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani described extremism and violence as “global crises” and called for the establishment of a united front against them.

And the Iranian president expressed regret that despite the United Nations slogan “World against Violence and Extremism”, no practical measures have been implemented to address these issues.

Iran unveils new missiles, drones

During the ceremony, new domestically manufactured cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles were unveiled.

The Qadir cruise missile, the Nasr Basir cruise missile, the Karrar 4 drone, and the Mohajer 4 drone were the pieces of military hardware that were unveiled.

The Qadir missile, with a range of 300 kilometers, is able to destroy sea targets with high precision. The cruise missile can be fired from onshore-based launchers or launchers installed on naval vessels.

According to military officials, the Nasr Basir, which is a smart guided cruise missile, can significantly increase the Iranian armed forces’ capabilities at sea.

The Karrar 4 drone, which was designed and manufactured by the Iran Aviation Industries Organization, is able to track enemy aircraft entering or attempting to enter Iranian airspace.

The drone can carry out operations at higher altitudes and thus will enable the armed forces to defend the country’s airspace more efficiently.

And the Mohajer 4 drone is an advanced aircraft which is able to conduct aerial surveillance.
