TEHRAN – Hamidreza Dehqani, consul general of the Iranian Consulate in Jeddah, says Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Saudi counterpart Prince Saud al-Faisal will soon trade visits to Riyadh and Tehran to consolidate relationship, the Mehr News Agency reported on Wednesday.
He also touched on the three-day long visit of Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to Saudi Arabia and his meeting with the Saudi foreign minister, saying the talks were held in a friendly and warm atmosphere. He added that many issues, including the Zionist regime’s offensive against the impoverished Gaza Strip, were discussed by the two officials.
The two sides also highlighted the necessity of unity in the Islamic world in the face of the Zionist regime’s adventurism, Dehqani stated.
Amir-Abdollahian embarked on a three day visit of Saudi Arabia on Monday, in a landmark visit marking the first such high-ranking visit of an Iranian official to Saudi Arabia since Iranian President Hassan Rouhani took office last year. He returned to Tehran on Wednesday night.
