TEHRAN – Senior Iranian MP Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said on Monday that private satellite dishes and social networks such as Facebook and Twitter should not be free to access.
Haddad-Adel, who was parliament speaker from 2004-2008, added that officials should refrain from writing their statements on their Facebook pages, because such social networks can disturb cultural tranquility in the society, the IRNA news agency reported.
“Neglecting political and cultural values can disturb the country’s peace. We have fulfilled our responsibility in the Majlis and we believe that the satellite [dishes] and social networks like Facebook should not be left free to access,” the head of the cultural committee of the parliament said.
