TEHRAN – The deputy head of Iran’s Red Crescent Society announced on Tuesday that Iran is sending humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
The consignment will be airlifted to Cairo on Wednesday and from there to the Rafah border crossing, Mohammad Shahabeddin Mohammadi Araqi said.
Mohammadi Araqi said 3 Iranian physicians will also travel to Cairo.
On a transfer of the Palestinians who were wounded in the Israeli war on Gaza to Iran, he said this is not yet possible.
Israel launched an intensive aerial military campaign against Gaza in early July and later expanded its operation with ground invasions.
After more than seven weeks of war on Gaza, Palestinian resistance groups and Israeli officials reached an agreement on a permanent ceasefire for the besieged Gaza Strip on August 26.
