TEHRAN – The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran plans to build a specialized radiotherapy hospital through a joint venture with Pasargad Bank, a private bank, AEOI director Ali Akbar Salehi announced on Tuesday.
It is projected that the construction of the hospital will cost 10 trillion rials (about $403 million based on the official exchange rate of 24,800 rials to the dollar), Salehi said during a visit to the Tajrish Martyrs Hospital in Tehran.
Salehi, a trained nuclear physicist, also said Iran’s laser center has become one of the most important ones in West Asia.
He went on to say that since he took over as the AEOI director, he has tried to focus on quality rather than quantity.
He also said he is sad to see that some Iranians travel to other countries, and especially to Turkey, for medical treatment because some of these countries are dependent on Iran in some technologies.
