“One of the blessings of recent negotiations (between Iran and world powers over the country’s nuclear program) was that it revealed the hostility of U.S. officials toward Iran and Iranians and Islam and Muslims,” Ayatollah Khamenei said during a meeting with a number of people from the holy city of Qom in Tehran on Thursday.

“Recent talks showed both the hostility and the incapability of the United States,” he noted.

The Leader also said, “Today, our enemies are talking in such a way that suggests that the Iranian nation has put up their hands in surrender under pressure from sanctions, but they are making a mistake again because this nation is not a nation that raises hands in surrender.”

“It is a misconception to think that pressure from sanctions has brought the Iranian nation to the negotiating table,” he added.

“We had previously announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran would negotiate with this devil (the United States) on certain issues if it deems it expedient in order to deter its evil and help resolve an issue,” he stated.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei strongly criticized the U.S. government as the biggest violator of human rights in the world and said the U.S. has no right to talk about human rights due to its poor record in this regard.

The Leader cited U.S. President Barack Obama’s failure to fulfill his election pledge to close the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp, drone attacks on Pakistani and Afghan people, and support for the criminal actions of the Zionist regime against the Palestinians as pieces of evidence revealing the United States’ inhumane nature.
