The Leader made the remarks at a graduation ceremony for cadets of Imam Hossein University in Tehran on Wednesday, which was held three days ahead of the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr in 1982.

“Due to the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian nation has stood up for 35 years to the hegemonistic system’s disgusting and shameful habit of dividing the world into (the two groups of) the oppressor and the oppressed, and it is for this reason that the tyrannical world powers led by the United States are so angry and irritated,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Iranian people have won great international acclaim for their resistance against the arrogant powers, he said, adding that many countries that are not able to stand up to tyrannical powers are also pleased with and praise Iran’s resistance.

He also said that the hegemons are always seeking to find excuses through raising issues such as Tehran’s nuclear program or the country’s human rights record to pressure Iran to stop resisting their tyrannical approach.

But they should be aware of the fact that they will never be able to compel Iran to stop standing up to them, he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the “hegemonistic front” is bitterly angry about the progress of the Iranian people and the Islamic system which has been achieved without relying on the United States and other Western powers.

The Leader also reviewed units of Iranian armed forces on parade.
