Iran’s electricity exports up by 44% since March

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_famous_04_power2.jpgTEHRAN - Iran has exported 6,624 gigawatts (GW) of electricity to its neighboring countries since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2012) till October 23, showing a 44 percent rise compared to the same period last year, IRIB reported.
 
By the end of the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (March 2016), Iran will boost its electricity generation capacity by 25GW to reach 73GW, Energy Minister Majid Namjou said on February 7.
 
Iran currently trades power with Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
