The funds will be spent to enhance efficiency at the Tehran, Arak, Bandar Abbas, and Abadan refineries, ISNA quoted National Iranian Petrochemical Company official Mohammad Ziar as saying on Saturday.

In addition to building new refineries, production is projected to be boosted at all the facilities, Ziar noted.

On January 12, the Mehr News Agency quoted Iranian Standards Organization Deputy Director Bahador Kazemi as saying that Iranian refiners will be required to supply gasoline meeting Euro-4 standards from the beginning of the next Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2013).

The gasoline currently produced meets Euro-2 standards, Kazemi said, adding that newly established refineries are able to produce gasoline which meets both Euro-4 and Euro-5 standards.

In December 2012, IRNA quoted Environmental Protection Organization Deputy Director Ali-Mohammad Sha’eri as saying that about 50 million liters of gasoline and diesel fuel meeting euro-4 and euro-5 standards will be produced in Iran by the end of the current Iranian calendar year.

The fuel will be produced at the Shazand, Tondgouyan, Abadan, and Lavan refineries, he added.

In October 2012, ISNA quoted National Iranian Oil Production and Distribution Company Managing Director Alireza Zeighami as saying that Iran is currently producing 25 million liters of premium gasoline per day that meet euro-4 and euro-5 standards.

The country’s gasoline output is projected to hit 70 million liters per day by the end of the next Iranian calendar year, he added.

He also said that diesel fuel production will reach 95 million liters per day by the end of the current Iranian year, with 25 million liters of the output meet euro-4 and euro-5 standards.
