TEHRAN - Iran’s car production fell 57.8 percent in the first Iranian calendar month of Farvardin (March 21-April 20), ILNA reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, production of Iran Khodro, Pars Khodro, Saipa, Bahman, and Kerman Motor carmakers declined 77.7 percent, 75.1 percent, 32.5 percent, 50.4 percent and 100 percent, respectively. However, production of Modiran Company increased 84 percent in Farvardin.

Industrial Development and Renovation Organization's chairman Gholamreza Shafei has said that Iranian carmakers are manufacturing at 50 percent of their nominal capacity.

This is due to a shortage of capital, he added.

Iran plans to manufacture at least three million cars by 2025 and export one million, Iranian Industry, Mines, and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari has said.
