Iran to boost maritime passenger fleet capacity

TEHRAN - Iran will boost its maritime passenger fleet through adding 16 new vessels in the next Iranian calendar year, which begins on March 21, 2014, IRIB quoted managing director of the association of Iranian maritime cooperatives Ahmad Hashemi as saying.
 
A vessel, with the capacity of 120 passengers, will be launched soon in the Bandarabbas-Qeshm route, he added.
 
The vessel has been built at a cost of $950 million, he noted.
 
The 16 new vessels which are projected to be built will have the capacity of 100-150 passengers, he said, adding that he vessels will cost $1-1.7 million each.
