| Iran’s 1H crude steel output up 12.5%: WSA |

The country’s total output in the first half of 2013 amounted to 7.326 million tons, according to the WSA report.
World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the WSA was 132 million tons in June 2013, an increase of 1.9 percent compared to June 2012.
World crude steel production in the first six months of 2013 was 789.8 million tons, an increase of 2.0 percent compared to the same period of 2012.
Asia showed an increase of 5.5 percent while other regions recorded negative growth in the first half of 2013.
China’s crude steel production for June 2013 was 64.7 million tons, up by 4.6 percent compared to June 2012.
Elsewhere in Asia, Japan produced 9.3 million tons of crude steel in June 2013. South Korea’s crude steel production was 5.5 million tons.
In the EU, Germany produced 3.7 million tons of crude steel in June 2013, a decrease of -2.2 percent compared to June 2012. Italy’s crude steel production was 2.2 million tons, down by -10.3 percent on June 2012.
The U.S. produced 7.2 million tons of crude steel in June 2013, down by -0.2 percent on June 2012.
