The new Iranian administration has taken the first step toward this end through expediting the release of imported staple foods from customs offices.
Rohani held his first cabinet meeting in Tehran on Sunday.
During the meeting, he urged all the bodies affiliated to the executive branch of government to inform his administration about measures that could be effective to improve the standard of living in the next 100 days, the Mehr News Agency reported on Monday.
The government is ready to work to prevent budget shortfalls and ensure the availability of basic goods until springtime, he stated.
The ministers agreed that this year’s national budget should be revised and a new version presented in the next two weeks, he added.
Iran’s current fiscal year ends on March 20, 2014.
The current projected revenue will not be met and the budget will be revised to avoid overspending, the president’s advisor for planning, Mohammad-Baqer Nobakht, said on August 17, according to the Fars News Agency.
Rohani has pledged to waste no time fighting inflation, which has exceeded 35 percent, and unemployment, which stands at about 12 percent, as international sanctions have cut the nation’s crude oil exports and restricted its access to foreign currency.
