|Iran’s saffron exports drop 7% in 6 months||
TEHRAN - Iran’s saffron exports fell 7 percent in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21- September 22) compared to the same period in the last year, the chairman of Iranian Saffron Exporters Association announced.
Saffron price increase by 60 percent and export limitations are the reasons behind this drop, ISNA quoted Gholamreza Miri as saying on Tuesday.
The volume of annual saffron exports can reach 200 tons by the government’s supports, he added.
IRNA reported on Monday that the Iranian Customs Administration has removed duty on saffron exports.
Iran’s saffron exports will increase by 15 percent in the current [Iranian calendar] year, the secretary of the National Iranian Saffron Council said in May.
