TEHRAN - Directors of 14 Austrian industrial and commercial companies met with the deputy director of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) in Tehran on Saturday, exploring ways to boost trade ties with Iran.
Oil, gas, and petrochemicals, industrial machinery, light and heavy vehicles, transportation, railway equipment, steel industry equipment, and drilling equipment are the fields of activity of the Austrian companies, IRNA quoted the TPOI official Mehdi Mir-Aboutalebi as saying.
Aboutalebi further said that the nuclear agreement reached between Iran and the six major powers in Geneva on November 24 has created a positive atmosphere in the economic field in Iran.
Thanks to this atmosphere, more economic and trade delegations will travel to Iran from different countries in the future, he added.
Austrian newspaper Die Presse has said that rail technology firms Plasser & Theurer and AVL, high-rise engineering firm Doka, engineering consultants ILF and cable car maker Doppelmayr were among the companies visiting Iran, Reuters reported.
Austrian exports to Iran fell 24 percent to 219 million euros last year, according to the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. Imports also fell 24 percent to 122 million euros.
