TEHRAN - Iranian Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare Minister Ali Rabiei says one million jobs should be created per year to resolve the unemployment crisis in the country, the IRNA news agency reported on Sunday.
On August 16, Rabiei said 500,000 jobs will be created in the country by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2015).
At least 90 trillion rials (about $2.9 billion) will be invested in job creation plans in the current Iranian year, he added.
The Statistical Center of Iran has announced that there are 2.5 million jobless people in the country.
The average unemployment rate for the past Iranian calendar year hit 10.4 percent.
Iran must create 8.5 million new jobs in the next two years, Iranian Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Ali Tayyebnia said last November.
