TEHRAN – Iran will start exporting 2.5 million tons of diesel fuel to Iraq in the near future.
National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company Managing Director Nasser Sajjadi said the two countries will soon finalize a previously signed deal in this regard, the Shana news agency reported on Tuesday.
According to the deal, Iran will supply Iraqi power plants with diesel fuel over the next year.
Mohsen Qamsari, international affairs director at the National Iranian Oil Company, said on August 3 that following the extension of Iran’s nuclear deal with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the United States, France, Britain, Russia, and China – plus Germany in July, Tehran will sign new contracts to export oil products, including diesel fuel, light and heavy naphtha, liquefied natural gas and fuel oil to different Asian countries.
