Iran exports $90.8 milllion worth of carpets in 3 months

altTEHRAN, (Bernama)-- Iran boosted the exports of its hand-woven carpets with the export of $90.8 milllion worth of the valuable handicraft in the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), Iran's Fars News Agency reported.

The Commercial Deputy for the Islamic Republic of Iran's National Carpet Center Ali Malekjou said during the first quarter of this year $90.8 million Persian Carpets were exported. Malekjou foresaw better performance in the Iranian carpet exporting market during the first six months of the current year.

According to him, programs such as sending trade and economic delegations to China and other regional countries such as India, Pakistan and Afghanistan are among the future programs to support the export of Persian Carpets.

China, Brazil, South and Central Africa, along with neighboring countries are the most important markets for Iranian made Persian Carpets.
