TEHRAN - Iran and Iraq will expand their cooperation in the oil and gas sector through signing several agreements during the imminent trip of Iranian First Vice-President, Mohammadreza Rahimi, to Iraq.
The two sides are set to finalize a deal on selling Iranian gas to Iraq and also negotiate on transferring gas from Iran to other countries through Iraq, IRNA quoted Iran’s caretaker oil minister Mohammad Aliabadi, as saying on Tuesday.
Some 150 private sector businessmen are scheduled to accompany Rahimi on his trip.
Trade between Iran and Iraq hit some 4.48 billion dollars in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 20), of which some 4.39 billion dollars was Iran’s exports.
