TEHRAN — The two leading international oil companies, British Petroleum and Shell, have sent a letter to Iran’s Oil Ministry, proposing investment in the country’s oil and gas installations.
The two companies have announced their readiness to invest in establishment and development of gas, diesel, and CNG stations in Iran, Mehr news agency reported on Saturday.
By implementing the subsidy reform plan in Iran, the profitability of handling gas stations has been increased remarkably and so foreign corporations are now keen to invest in this sector.
According to the report, Iran’s oil ministry is still studying the suggestions of British Petroleum and Shell and has not yet replied to the companies.
There are now around 3,000 gas and diesel stations and some 1,700 CNG stations in operation across Iran. It is projected to increase the figure to 7,000 in the near future.
