TEHRAN, July 30 (MNA) — Iran’s oil minister nominee, Rostam Qasemi, announced that his primary target would be the acceleration of developing joint oil and gas fields.
He added that developing joint oil and gas fields, especially those which are located in the South Pars gas field and those which are associated with Iraq, would be the primary objective of him as the oil minister, the Mehr news agency reported on Saturday.
“Protection of oil and gas reserves, collection of associated gas, and enhancing the production of crude oil, are other main objectives of the oil ministry”, Qasemi added.
He emphasized on recruiting Iranian staff for the oil industry and added that Iran’s oil sector doesn’t need to any foreign manager and engineer.
Last week, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad nominated Qasemi as the new oil minister. Qasemi is now the commander of Khatam al-Anbiya base, the massive construction arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. Majlis has scheduled votes of confidence on the nominated minister for Wednesday 3 August.
