altSmoking shortly after getting up in the morning can double the risk of lung cancer. This has been shown in a study with over 7.600 participants at Penn State College.

Even after statistical adjustments like the number of cigarettes smoked per day the result was the same: Smoking within 30 minutes after getting up raises the risk of cancer dramatically.

"So the most likely explanation of this finding is that the sooner a smoker lights up, the more smoke is taken into the lungs, and the higher the level of exposure to cancer causing chemicals", said a cancer researcher.
