TEHRAN — Junk food lets toxins enter your blood and is harmful to your gastrointestinal system, a dietitian says.

Mitra Zarrati advises people to avoid eating junk foods such as fried fish, shrimp, and chicken, sausage, and Kielbasa.

She says many Iranians still cook foods with solid oil and people think oil forms the main part of their diet.

Zarrati suggests that Iranian diet must be revised and people use less oil in cooking.

The dietitian believes that the Iranian diet has changed. For example, she tells Fars news agency, many people eat candies instead of bread. People think candies supply needed carbohydrates, while candies, cakes and biscuits that are full of calories lack ‘B’ group vitamins and fiber.

She also said consuming too much meat can cause auto-immune diseases. However, the dietician says, herbal proteins can be substituted by animal proteins.

Cereals are considered the most useful proteins and are capable of supplying necessary nutrients, she adds.
