The cases occurred in 19 states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. In Colorado alone there have been reported 17 cases. A produce company in California said it issued a recall for 2,498 cartons of chopped romaine lettuce as it may be contaminated with Listeria, as well.
