A new report, which refers to 19 U.S. states, shows that women in the US are undergoing C-section deliveries in record high numbers. The rate of cesarean deliveries climbed to 34 percent in 2009. In 2002, only 27 percent of all deliveries were c-sections. This reflects the growing popularity of the procedure. "Doctors need to better understand when a C-section is called for. Patients need to have a better understanding of C-sections and not go into it blindly," Dr. Divya Cantor, senior physician consultant for HealthGrades says.
