TEHRAN - Dr. Maryam Bakhtiari, a clinical psychologist, says children learn to behave aggressively by imitating parents otherwise they may suffer from psychological disorders.

Aggressive children need psychological counseling and they must be trained how to build effective relationship and behave courageously, Bakhtiari, a professor of Shahid Beheshti Medical Sciences University, told the ISNA news agency.

She recommended parents to provide a calm atmosphere at home free from aggressive behavior.

However, she said aggressiveness may appear passively. For example, Bakhtiari said, the child may behave aggressively if her mother does not talk to him/her.

It is necessary that parents train their children how to demonstrate a healthy behavior especially during the pre-school period as children are more receptive to social techniques at this age, she explained.

Bakhtiari went on to say that “failure” is also a reason for aggressive behavior.

She also said some people adopt aggressiveness as a way to resolve their problems because they have experienced that through an aggressive behavior they can reach their goals faster.
