TEHRAN — A Tehran Medical Sciences University professor says more than 60% of heart arrests are due to spiritual crisis and shock neurosis. In an interview with the Fars news agency, Shahrokh Karbalaii also said coronary artery diseases are the most significant causes of heart arrest. He said plaques are formed in patients’ vessels with high risk factors due to bad lifestyle, leading to vascular constriction. He went on to say that vascular accidents may be asymptomatic, and sometimes because of various factors, vascular wall tears and the clot is loaded on the plaque. Karbalaii said when the plaque is detached from its site, rupture occurs. LDL (low density lipoprotein) and high levels of adrenalin, hypertension, and smoking are considered other factors behind vascular rupture, he explained. He added using DC shock devices in a large scale is helpful in preventing sudden death due to heart attack. In most developed countries DC shock devices are installed in public and overcrowded places such as metro stations and the necessary training is given to the personnel, Karbalaii explained.
