Kheirieh: Iran’s promising illustrator

Rashin Kheirieh
Rashin Kheirieh is a professional Iranian illustrator and narrative artist whose skills range from computer graphics and animation to painting.
Kheirieh specializes in enhancing writing by providing elaborate visual representations. She has illustrated more than 30 books in Iran, France, Spain, Korea, Italy and India. 

Up to the moment, she has received several acknowledgments and prizes for her work, including the Medal of Encouragement from Noma, Japan in 2002 and 2008, New Horizons from the International book Festival Bologna, Italy in 2009, International Festival of Illustrators, Katha, India in 2005.
altThis year, she won the Golden Apple of the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB). The biennial displays the best illustrations of children and juvenile's books which were published during the past two years.
Born 1979 in Khoramshar, southwest Iran, Kheirieh attended the Alzahra University in Tehran, graduating in 2008 with a specialization in graphics.
In 2005 and 2006 she received a mention of honor at the Concorso Internazionale di Illustrazione from the Associazione Culturale Teatrio in Venice; her illustration entitled The Stupid Geese were altshown at the Illustrators’ Exhibition at the 2006 Bologna Children’s Book Fair; in 2008 she was mentioned in the White Ravens by the Internationale Jugendbibliothek in Munich; in 2008 and 2009 she was selected at the CJ Picture Book Awards International Competition in Seoul; in 2009 she was awarded the New Horizons Prize at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair for the book Arang Arang, published in Iran in 2008; in 2010 she won the Crystal Roc prize for best animated film at the Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran with Young Man and The Cunning Tailor (based on her book The Cunning Tailor, Kanoon, Tehran, 2008).
