altTEHRAN – A large number of worshippers held demonstrations outside the University of Tehran after Friday prayers to condemn the atrocities that Al Khalifa is committing in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The demonstrators chanted slogans in support of the Bahraini protesters, who are seeking a change in their government, and expressed their sympathy with them.

They also condemned the brutal suppression of popular uprisings in the tiny Persian Gulf sheikhdom by the Bahraini and Saudi Arabian forces.

The demonstrators carried flags of Bahrain and held up photos of Ali Jawad al-Sheikh, a 14-year-old Bahraini teenager who died on August 31 at hospital after being hit in the head by a tear gas canister fired by Bahraini security forces.

The people also chanted “Down with the United States,” “Death to Israel.”

The Secretary General of the Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly, Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Hassan Akhtari, delivered a speech at the demonstration in which he said that the movement of the Bahraini people will definitely emerge victorious.

Similar demonstrations were held in the northeastern city of Mashhad on the same day.
