Egypt to import wheat from Iran
ALGIERS (IRNA) -- Egypt's Ministry of Commerce and Industries announced on Saturday that talks are underway with Iranian officials for signing an agreement to purchase 200,000 tons of wheat from Iran.
Deputy Commerce Minister of Egypt, Mohamed Mansour, said in an interview in Cairo that Tehran announced its agreement in principle or export of 200,000 tons of wheat to Egypt in 2008.
Mansour said it is expected that the agreement for purchase of Iranian wheat would be signed within coming weeks.
He added that the two sides were also holding talks for exports of Egyptian goods to Iran.
A delegation comprising Iranian commercial officials is expected to visit Cairo soon, added Mansour.
