Iranian critics to review “Persepolis”
Tehran Times Art Desk

TEHRAN -- The controversial animated film “Persepolis” is to be reviewed by Iranian critics during a program at the Rasaneh Cultural Center in Tehran on February 12 and 14.

The film will be screened and reviewed by IRIB official Mahmud Hosseinizad and critic Hossein Moazzezinia. The program is open to the public.

The animation film, which is widely viewed as an anti-Iranian film in Iran, was directed by Vincent Paronnaud and Paris-based Iranian graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi.

The film, which is about an Iranian girl growing up during the final days of the last shah and the early days of the Islamic Republic, paints an unrealistically bleak image of Iran.

The film is an adaptation of Satrapi’s autobiographical black and white graphic novel “Persepolis”.

The movie is competing for a Best Animated Feature Film Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards.

“Persepolis” also received the Jury Prize of the Cannes Film Festival in 2007.

The Rasaneh Cultural Center is located at 20 Keshavarz Blvd.
