Iran’s “So Simple” nominated for ASSITEJ award

TEHRAN -- The Iranian play “So Simple” directed by Morteza Saeidian has been nominated for this year’s ASSITEJ Honorary President’s Award.

ASSITEJ (Association International du Theatre pour l’Enfance et la Jeunesse) is a world network of theater for children and young people which links 1,000 International theaters and drama organizations and selects an honorary president every three years.

The play performed by the Baran troupe was staged at the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults’ theater center (IIDCYA) last year and was much appreciated by audiences.

“So Simple” makes use of the innovative technique of colorful knotted ropes to display the panorama of life including birth, nature, social life, work, hopes and dreams.

Initially ten organizations and groups were selected from across the world of which three including the Baran troupe were nominated for the award. The winner will be announced in May 2008 during a congress to be held in Adelaide.

The members of the Baran troupe are Hossein Zeinali, Hadi Hassanali, Mohammad Loqmanian, Gelareh Karami and Morteza Saeidian.
