Iran, Pakistan to improve trade ties

TEHRAN (FNA) –- Lahore Mayor Mian Amer Mahmood said Pakistan and Iran would extend cooperation in trade, industry and modern technology in near future.

He said the two countries were tied with each other for centuries-old religious, historical and cultural ties.

Addressing a ceremony of renaming Canal Road from Mall Road Bridge to Dharampura Bridge with Isfahan Avenue, he said, relations between Iran and Pakistan would be strengthened after starting an Information Centre in the Iranian Consulate, Lahore.

He said businessmen of both countries should play a role to promote profitable economic activities in each other’s countries.

He said the government would provide maximum facility to Iranian businessmen to hold exhibitions in Lahore and similarly the Iranian government would help Pakistani businessmen to conduct exhibitions in Iran.

Isfahan Mayor Dr. Murtaza Saqaiyan Nejad, Iranian Consulate General Saeed Kharrazi, Deputy Consulate General Ali Asghar, and Model Town Society President Tahir Kardar were also present on this occasion.

Saqaiyan Nejad said an exchange of delegations would help bring the masses of both countries close to each other.

He said a famous road of Isfahan would be renamed “Lahore” by him in the near future.
