TEHRAN – Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili on Tuesday discussed a new strategic paradigm for cooperation with visiting Indian National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan.

The era of unipolar world has come to an end and Iran and India as two important regional powers need to utilize their potential for further cooperation, Jalili told the Indian delegation.
He said Iran’s diplomatic package of proposals, recently presented to the world powers, provides solutions to international and regional challenges including terrorism and drug abuse and can help establish peace and stability throughout the world.
Since Tehran and New Delhi pursue common interests they should further improve relations at various levels and make every effort to put previous agreements into operation, Jalili stated.
Narayanan, for his part, said, “Expansion of ties between the two great civilizations of Iran and India will benefit the whole region.”
“India is determined to seriously pursue the implementation of agreements reached between the two sides in former official meetings, especially the Iran-India-Pakistan gas transmission project,” he stressed.
The two sides also agreed to form a joint committee tasked with facilitating the implementation of bilateral deals.
------------- India is a friend of Iran
