Tehran Times Culture Desk

TEHRAN -- The Iranian Poets Society (IPS) plans to publish a book of selections of contemporary Persian poems in English.

The poems, composed by Nima Yushij, Mehdi Akhavan-Salis, Sohrab Sepehri, Qeisar Aminpur, and Tahereh Saffarzadeh, are to be translated into English by Saeid Saeidpur and Mehdi Afshar, IPS Managing Director told the Persian service of ISNA on Monday.

The book is to be published in line with the IPS plan “Dialogue among the Iranian and World’s Poets,” which aims to introduce the literary works of the West, Far East, and Iran as part of a bilateral relations plan.

So far, IPS has published ten collections of contemporary Persian poems, which have been translated into ten languages, as a part of this plan.

These collections are expected to be translated into Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and Urdu.
