Crude steel production up 8%

TEHRAN -- Iranian crude steel production in the seven months period (ended October 22, 2009) reached 6,269,989 tons, showing an eight percent increase compared to the same period last year.

IRNA News Agency quoted Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization stating that Iran’s processed steel production in the mentioned period stood at 5,824,243 tons.

Iran’s crude steel exports in the mentioned period also exceeded 651,478 tons, worth some $273 million, which showed 57 percent increase in volume compared to the previous year’s figure.
