Slander of officials is part of soft warfare strategy: Leader
Tehran Times Political Desk
TEHRAN - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said here on Wednesday that slandering officials of the Islamic establishment and spreading rumors about them are part of the enemies’ soft warfare strategy.
“Such actions are in line with the wishes of the enemy because the country’s officials, including the president, the Majlis speaker, the Judiciary chief, and the Expediency Council chairman, are at the helm of the country and people should trust them,” he said in a meeting with Basij (volunteer forces) in Tehran.
Ayatollah Khamenei also said countering the enemy’s soft warfare against the Islamic Republic of Iran is the country’s top priority.
Due to its inability to successfully challenge the Islamic system militarily in the first decade after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the global arrogance began waging a soft warfare campaign against the country, he added.
“In this soft warfare, the enemy is attempting to use advanced cultural and communications tools… to create doubt, pessimism, and conflict among the people,” he noted.
He went on to say that the situation that arose earlier this year in the post-election period was an example of the enemy’s soft warfare strategy.
After the election, the enemies created doubt and conflict under the pretext of the election and ordered their agents to carry out disruptive actions, but they failed due to the people’s awareness and insight, Ayatollah Khamenei observed.
He urged citizens and political groupings to unite against the small number of people who are opposed to the revolution and the country’s independence and are seeking to allow the United States and the global arrogance to take over the country’s affairs.
The Supreme Leader also criticized certain media outlets and organizations, saying they are seeking to sow discord in society.
“I advise those who are concerned about national interests to abandon trivial… conflicts,” he added.
He also said that as long as the Basij forces defend the Islamic system, it will not face any threat.
But in order to improve the Basij, it is necessary to understand the shortcomings and make the proper contingency plans, he stated
