TEHRAN - Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran, M.B. Abbasi, has been injured in an attempt on his life in Tehran.

M.H. Jaffery, the press counselor of the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran, told the Tehran Times on Tuesday night that Ambassador Abbasi was on his way to his home in the northern Tehran neighborhood of Darous after working out at a nearby gymnasium when a man with a knife stabbed the ambassador repeatedly.
Ambassador Abbasi attempted to ward off the attack but was injured and fell to the ground.
Mr. Jaffery stated that the ambassador has been hospitalized but the doctors have not yet announced his condition and the level of his injuries.
Officials at the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran dismissed the reports of the Al Arabiya network, which said that the Pakistani ambassador had been injured in a bomb attack in which two of his bodyguards were killed.
