TEHRAN -- Iranian movie star Bahram Radan has resigned from his role as ambassador of the UN World Food Program (WFP).

He quit due to a lack of adequate conditions for accomplishing any effective work, a number of Persian news websites quoting his publicist reported on Sunday.
“Bahram has been disappointed by the lack of necessary conditions for effective activities,” Alireza Bazel said.
“He prefers to pursue practicable humanitarian activities rather than to release statements or to have a mere symbolic participation in such efforts,” he added.
Radan has been seen at many charity events over the past years. He recently accepted responsibility for covering all educational expenses for an orphan until 18.
Radan, 31, was named WFP Ambassador Against Hunger last April.
In his first act as WFP ambassador, he visited Afghan refugees at the Shahid Nasseri Camp in Saveh, an Iranian city in the Central Province, some 120 km southwest of Tehran.
