“I Love Manchester United” appears in Turkish

TEHRAN – Iranian author Mehdi Yazdani-Khorram’s novel “I Love Manchester United” has recently been released in Turkish by Demavend Publications in Istanbul.

The Persian version published by Cheshmeh Publications in 2012 was warmly welcomed by Iranian readers.

Rendered into Turkish by Behruz Dijurian, the book turns the spotlight on the political system of Iran during the early 2000s as the author also gives readers flashbacks all the way back to the 1940s.


Haddad-Adel visits photo exhibit on holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS)

TEHRAN -- Academy of Persian Language and Literature Director Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel visited Mohammad Khoshru’s exhibition of photos of the shrine of Imam Ali (AS) at Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center on Thursday.

“I’ve been acquainted with Mohammad Khoshru’s photos since before, as he puts the spotlight on details that might be ignored when one visits the holy site,” Haddad-Adel said.

The collection focuses on the site’s architectural design, its entrance door, windows and the intricate tile works, which are decorated with Persian calligraphy.

The exhibition, which ended on Friday at Niavaran, is scheduled to resume at the Saba Art and Cultural Institute from July 6 to 22.


Iranian movies to compete in U.S. filmfest

TEHRAN – Iranian movies “1-0” and “The Sound of the Road” will go on screen at 8th Mosaic World Film Festival (MWFF), which will be held at the J.R. Sullivan Theater in Illinois from August 28 to 30.

“1-0” directed by Saman Hosseinpur tells the story of a boy who passionately watches a soccer game on TV while getting a haircut.

“The Sound of the Road” by Barzan Rostami is about an unsuccessful marriage as a result of a superficial relationship between a man and woman who met each other on the street.

The MWFF will screen shorts from 21 countries, including Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Turkey and the U.S.
