| Qatar admits to aiding Syria opposition |

 Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has acknowledged that Doha has “used all available means” to help the Syrian opposition.
“It is better for Arab countries themselves to intervene out of their humanitarian, political and military duties and do what is necessary to stop the bloodshed” in Syria, Sheikh Hamad told the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on Tuesday.
The Qatari ruler also said the current situation in Syria was “unacceptable,” claiming that the Syrians are struggling against dictatorship and corruption to achieve freedom.
The Syrians are deprived of the legitimate right of freedom and the removal of dictators requires continuous resistance, the ruler claimed.
Coups are not uncommon in Qatar. Sheikh Hamad came to power in 1995 after staging a coup against his own father.
Qatar does not have any single election at any level and no basic principles of democracy are being observed in the Arab state.
The country, home to the largest US military base in the Middle East, is an absolute monarchy where the Al Thani family controls the state and all of its institutions.
Furthermore, Doha is providing foreign-backed insurgents in Syria with financial support and weapons, which have claimed the lives of many civilians.
