|Syrian government "ready" to discuss transition of power||
Syrian state television said on Wednesday that the government delegation has announced its "full readiness" to discuss the Geneva I communiqué, which calls for a transitional government, "paragraph by paragraph" at peace talks.
"The Syrian government delegation announced its full readiness and since the beginning to put Geneva on the table and discuss it paragraph by paragraph from the first article," a news bulletin said.
Syria's opposition confirmed that "a positive step forward" was made during talks on Wednesday with discussions of a transition government after four days of deadlock.
Opposition delegation spokesman Louay Safi said that "for the first time now we are talking about the transitional governing body."
Delegations from Syrian government and the opposition National Coalition sat down from around 11:00 am on Wednesday, the UN said.
UN mediator Lakhdar Brahimi said he had decided to cancel Tuesday afternoon talks and reconvene the parties for "what I hope will be a better session" on Wednesday morning.
"Nobody is walking out, nobody is running away," Brahimi told reporters on Tuesday. "We have not achieved any breakthrough, but we are still at it, and this is good enough as far as I'm concerned."
