| Amal demands Imam Sadr released |

 BEIRUT (NOW Lebanon ) -- Amal Movement issued a statement on Monday demanding the Lebanese cabinet send an official government mission to Libya to meet with the country’s officials and look into the disappearance of Lebanese Shia leader Imam Moussa Sadr.“In this historical moment in the life of the Libyan people…it is a priority to liberate Imam Moussa al-Sadr and his two friends Sheikh Mohammad Yaccoub and journalist Abbas Badereddine who were [abducted] by Gaddafi’s regime in 1978.” The Amal Movement claims that Libya is complicit for the 1978 disappearance of its founder, Sadr. Qaddafi has repeatedly denied involvement. The movement also voiced hope that embattled Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi is arrested and tried for committing crimes against his people. “Lebanon, and Amal in particular, hope that the Libyan revolution will be able to begin building a modern constitutional civil state that positively contributes to confronting challenges imposed [on the Arab] nation.”
