Four foreign soldiers have been killed in separate militant attacks in eastern Afghanistan, amid escalating violence in the war-torn country.
The latest Tuesday offensive came in the wake of an earlier attack on Australian soldiers on the same day in southern Afghanistan, which led to the killing of a soldier and wounding another.
At least 285 U.S.-led foreign forces have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year.
At least 2,565 U.S.-led soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since the U.S.,-led invasion of the country in 2001, according to casualties.
The security situation remains fragile in Afghanistan despite the presence of at least 150,000 U.S.-led foreign forces in the country.
The increasing number of troop casualties in Afghanistan has caused widespread anger in the U.S. and other NATO member states, undermining public support for the Afghan war.
